A Brief Etymology: Kindness

This is brief again. I’m still sick.

Kindness has the same etymology as the word “kin”. It means to treat a person like they are part of your family. I think of the idea of letting someone though the gate or through a door to safety and healing. How fitting it is that self compassion is described by Christine Neff as talking to yourself the way you would talk to your dear family member or friend. Here is her Tedx Talk on Self Compassion.

Be kind to yourself!
