Improvement Monday 27 June 2022

Boy did I invoke Murphy’s Law last week. I declared my desire to find out what I needed to continue posting everyday, and I found out! Rather, I found out what was unsustainable. In the process, I lost a 50 day streak. Then, two days later while preparing my Satuday and Sunday posts, one of my kids leaned too far back in their chair … by the fireplace … so, ER trip. (btw That child is doing well and is playing around like nothing happened.)

It was inspired that my last post was about Self Compassion. I really needed that today. I had a moment this moring when I was really angry at my kids. I chose to give myself a time out. I prayed saying I’m so sorry for treating these precious human beings the way I did. The feeling I got was, no, they are okay, what you need is to love yourself.

I realized I had spent the whole morning feeling defensive about who I am, what I believe, and how I’m choosing to use my time. It’s almost like I was fighting to be accepted, when the only person I needed acceptance from was myself.

As I started to list off the things I love about myself, the apprehension disolved. I was filled with a deep desire to hug each of my children and show them that they are worthwhile. This principle works. It works every time I apply it. Self Compassion opens the door to Love.

I’m relieved to start a new week.

Always believe something wonderful is about to happen. Happy Monday!

Friday Update: I did a redesign of my logo this week. My maiden name is “Swan” and as a child I really identified with the story of the “Ugly Duckling”. I liked the idea of a baby swan seeing itself for who it really is: A Swan. I thought this would be a good representation of “kind“. I also wanted to incorporate the heart to represent “Courage“. My husband got me thinking on the concept, and then I used Canva and my limited design skills to make it into something that works. It may not be the best, but it’s mine, and I like it.
